Fire the FDA!

While Americans everywhere face financial devastation as their employers go belly up, there appears to be one safe haven for the morally bankrupt and professionally incompetent –our own bloated and corrupt FDA.

The situation is so bad in fact, that NINE of the FDA’s own scientists recently wrote a letter to President Obama citing gross mismanagement at all agency levels and laxity in protecting consumers against new products.  Here’s the real kicker.  According to these scientists… “there is an atmosphere at FDA in which the honest employee fears the dishonest employee, and not the other way around.”1

Among their other concerns, scientists have been threatened with reprisal and told to ignore the agency’s own regulations, manufacturers have excluded FDA overseers from strategic meetings fearing they would be “biased,” and  the agency has allowed manufacturers to sell their products WITHOUT obtaining necessary approval.1

The agency is so far gone that they don’t even hide their shoddy oversight practices from government investigators.  According to the New York Times, FDA officials admitted to the inspector general’s office of the Department of Health and Human Services that they don’t bother checking whether doctors have a financial interest in the drugs and medical appliances on which they conduct clinical trials because it “was not worth the effort.”2

This of course opens the door to the possibility that studies are biased and patients are hurt as doctors make big money on products that should not be given the green light.

Still, this gross negligence does not seem to hamper the FDA from getting their hands on more and more taxpayer money.   You might be interested to know that their 2008 operating budget was $2.1 billion, an increase of $95.3 million from the year before.

It seems apparent that this outrageous amount of money is for nothing more than to rip off, lie to, and feed potentially unsafe pharmaceuticals to the people that support them — a public that’s already at a financial breaking point trying to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table.  Behind closed doors, the FDA has written the proverbial book on “biting the hand that feeds you.”

What can you do to protect yourself from the very agency whose mission it is to “promote and protect public health”?

Most importantly, you can start taking charge of your own health –don’t rely on the government or Big Pharma to do it for you.  Do you really think they are putting your health and safety first?

Read each issue of Total Health Breakthroughs.  Our experts are here to offer you natural solutions to serious health problems –solutions that are far safer than most prescription drugs.  And their honesty in going against mainstream thinking sometimes surprises even me.

In the December 9th issue, Dr. Bill Stillwell, a prominent orthopedic surgeon advised people against expensive and risky arthroscopic surgery to ease arthritis pain.  Why?  Because several revealing studies have shown that in most cases surgery is no better at relieving arthritis pain than conservative measures like a common sense approach to healthy living and taking the right nutritional supplements.

Dr. Dwight Lundell, a heart surgeon with over 25 years experience is also speaking out.  In a recent two-part article, he admitted that the medical establishment was dead wrong in advising the public for decades to eat low-fat high-carb foods to ward off heart disease.  Instead, it created an epidemic of arterial inflammation leading to heart attacks, diabetes, and even Alzheimer’s disease.

If you want to take a more active stance against FDA corruption and mismanagement, join legions of fed up consumers and food scientists who are petitioning Congress to overhaul the FDA from top to bottom.  Take a moment to sign the online petition sponsored by the American Association for Health Freedom and let your voice be heard.

There’s a reason that so many of us are embracing a natural approach to healing.  The current system we’ve been subjected to is broken, and until it’s fixed, we must get involved and be our own advocates for better health and honest government oversight.
