How Men Can Avoid Estrogen Dominance

hormones in foodMany aspects of our health depend upon balance. For energy, we must balance rest with exercise. For fuel, we must balance protein with carbohydrates. Finally, for healthy cells, we must balance estrogen and testosterone. These two key hormones, along with progesterone, are vital for good health. When they fall out of balance, however, various problems can occur. In men, the condition known as estrogen dominance may lead to infertility, breast development, even cancer. Fortunately, it is possible to fight estrogen dominance and prevent these alarming outcomes.

What is Estrogen Dominance?

All men need both estrogen and testosterone in the correct balance. When the balance is sent askew and estrogen reaches a level that leads to health problems, a man may be diagnosed with estrogen dominance. Testosterone levels are high in young men, but they decrease as we age. This is normal. Outside factors, however, often cause estrogen levels to rise at the same time testosterone is decreasing. In this case, it is not our bodies that are to blame, but environmental factors.1

Bee Pollen: Nature’s Answer to Prostate Problems

Bee Pollen
Did you know the stuff bees gather to make honey can help you urinate with more power?

Pollen, as you know, is the “seed” of all flowering plants. Without it, they would not be able to reproduce.

But what you may not know is that pollen is also loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, unsaturated fats, enzymes, and more. It is a “super food” for bees — and for your prostate.

So how exactly does pollen work for your prostate?

Pollen extract’s ability to promote better prostate function involves a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). It’s a derivative of testosterone; it tells your prostate to grow over time. DHT collects in prostate tissue by binding to your prostate’s cells and building up in your system.

I’ve been saying for years that it’s DHT, not testosterone, that’s your prostate’s real enemy. In fact, DHT is nine times more powerful than testosterone at making your prostate grow.

Pollen extract has the power to knock out DHT. Researchers in England gave it to men who made frequent trips to the bathroom and had trouble urinating. After six months, 79% of them showed real improvement, 36% got rid of symptoms entirely and 42% had reduced symptoms.1

Men: “Hormone Hell” is NOT Just for Women!

Man very tired
Can men go through menopause? Absolutely! You might not know it, but estrogen dominance, or andropause, is a major health hazard for men over 40. This hormone imbalance occurs when your body builds up too much estrogen and xenoestrogens — which are synthetic forms of the hormone.

You’ve probably never heard of estrogen dominance — and your doctor would probably misdiagnose your symptoms. But this could be the reason you suffer from…

  • Memory loss and “senior moments”
  • Depression and mood swings
  • Sleepless nights
  • Unwanted weight gain– especially belly fat
  • Muscles turning into flab
  • Low sex drive and erectile dysfunction (ED)
  • Enlarged prostate and other prostate problems– and a frequent need to urinate
  • Hair loss
  • Male breasts or “man boobs”

There are three main reasons why these unpleasant symptoms of male menopause may be tormenting you: 1) aging, 2) environmental pollutants, and 3) your diet.

Don’t Gamble When It Comes To Your Prostate!

Public bathroom
By the time you are 60 — if you’re a man — there’s a fifty-fifty chance that you’ll be suffering from an enlarged prostate. If you live long enough, your chances climb to 90%.

An enlarged prostate — a condition called benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), is a non-cancerous swelling of the prostate. As your prostate begins to swell, you’ll find that you need to make more frequent trips to the bathroom, your urine stream will be weak, and you’ll have a hard time finishing what you started… if you know what I mean.

Of course, annoying bathroom urges are only part of the problem. An enlarged prostate can also interfere with your sex life and your overall quality of life. Often an enlarged prostate is a symptom of a hormone imbalance that could be having a more significant impact on your health than you realize.

Most doctors take a wait-and-see approach to an enlarged prostate. They figure if it doesn’t grow too fast and the symptoms don’t become too severe, then it’s something you can live with. If the symptoms become unmanageable, then the next option is surgery.

Saw Palmetto: Should You Worry About Side Effects?

Mortar and herbsMany men take a saw palmetto supplement, or a combination of saw palmetto and other herbs and nutrients for prostate health — or with the hope of improving symptoms of an enlarged prostate (BPH). Since prostate enlargement is a chronic problem, saw palmetto is often used for prolonged periods of months or years.

But are saw palmetto supplements safe for long term use? Do they have any side effects?

Men: A Practical Guide for a Better Relationship

Most men are grossly lacking in their get-along-with-women skills. The women I have polled over the last 40 years say that the majority of men have little to no idea about what works in a relationship with a woman. This is both sad and strange given how important women are to most of us.

It’s time for men to pay as much attention to natural health as women.
